Goal or No Goal, What Do U Think?
I’m not sure how I missed telling you this before but Friday night I went shopping and bought a smaller sized pair of jeans and a couple of smaller sized shirts. I didn’t go overboard, cause I don’t plan on staying this size for very long at all,
but I was going to my recovery group that night and I wanted to show off just a little! And it felt so good to slip into those jeans and not even be uncomfortable in that smaller size!
I’d sort of like to set a goal up for “by June 30th” cause that’s when I go with my girlfriends to the beach for our annual Get Out of Town with The Funseekers Week but I’m afraid to, because I don’t want to make it easy to think I can eat this cinnamon bun cause I’m still on track for my goal, if I just pick an easy one. One the other hand, if I dream big and then don’t make it, I don’t want to feel let down and like a failure. So what should I do?
Maybe pick something easy (realistic is a better word) and the dream one to work toward, knowing I may not make it but as an incentive not to slack off on the effort to make the dream one?
All opinions appreciated!

Goal’s are great! Post pictures of you the way that you used to weigh (ideally) all over the house. That should be plenty of motivation. It helps me
Good luck! You are doing great so far!
In situations like that….I make my goal to be the best I can be….You know that cinnamon roll is not the best you can be and therefore you would not be meeting your goal!…
if it were me, i would probably set two goals. one realistic but still requiring work, and one that is maybe a little less realistic but ‘wouldn’t it be fabulous to lose that before vacation’. that way you still have to work, but you can always have in your mind “well i AM on track, but how much greater will it be to land somewhere between the two goals instead of eat this cinnamon roll”
make sense?
good luck!
Great getting into those smaller jeans!!!
Heather, you know what they say, “Great minds think alike!” That was exactly what I was thinking when I added on that last part, but I’m still hoping to hear more well thought out advice, before I make up my mind!
Isn’t it Emerson says “Shoot for the moon….even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars” I say it is okay to “overgoal” just not too grandiose. To say I would be 135 next week…well…hey stop laughing…HOLLLYYY stop….
Holly pulls her Rockstar glasses on and covers here mouth, so that the Rockstar princess cannot see the twinkle of laughter in her eyes or the grin on her face, then attempts to speak in a very dramatic voice, “But of course, my dear Lara Rockstar, it wouldn’t be next week because everyone knows you would hold back just so you could taunt us longer! So you could dream up yet more dreadfully difficult challenges to whip us into a frenzy and melt the fat right off our plumpilicious Rockstar bodies!” But I likes the way ya think! No wonder you are the rrprincess and queen bee of the Rockstars!
I think goals are awesome and really motivating, but it’s also good to have a failsafe just in case because weight is so weird and fluctuates. Maybe also add some kind of feeling goal? Like… while excercising and dieting and stuff also try and get to a point where you will feel GREAT about yourself, even if you might not have hit a specific number/size. If you feel great, you will look great no matter what the scale says.
