Is Anyone Else Struggling to Eat in This Heat?

You have to eat to get that metabolism stoked and the sad truth is that carbs make you retain water in your body which equals weight! And of course all I care to eat right now is fruits and veggies…cold ones, if I can get myself to eat at all. This morning I struck on the idea of hardboiled eggs for breakfast. Cold out of the fridge! I made them to add to salads like chicken and tuna to up the protein since I’m not wanting to eat much. Gotta do what we can to keep the metabolism going. Anyone else struggling? Any other good ideas for dealing with it?

    same problem here…..
i ALWAYS have a difficult time eating in the summer — my sisters called it the “easy weight loss system”
unfortunately, i think most of the weight loss comes from dehydration…..
all i can eat is vegies — salads are my friends…
i did find a cold noodle salad with chicken and lettuce that i ate for 3 days straight (it made a lot, but i don’t know the caloric intake…)
i get recipes off of BettyCrocker.com they include the nutrional values and have different cold salads that add more ingredients… i changed the recipe a little– didn’t want to buy the “betty crocker noodle” package….

I try to keep a bag of almonds on me at all times…that way I can eat about 5 every 1-2 hours. It helps keep the metabolism going all day long…which is really important in this heat.

On my way to the grocery store this morning I thought of a couple of things that might work. I bought some unflavored gelatin, which has 7 gms of protein per serving. I’ll try making some good whole fruit gelatin salads, maybe add some cottage cheese for extra calcium and protein. And I will try out come veggie gelatins as well, maybe! There is always protein shakes but I tend to feel too full and uncomfortable after drinking all that air, so I may have to make em and let the air settle out first but then they won’t be thick, so I don’t know!

I also decided I would try making an omelet with veggies, chill it overnight and then eat it with a nice cold salsa for breakfast or even make it in the morning and have it for dinner! Worth a try!

yep, me too, fruit and yogurt for bfast or smoothies with protein powder. salads with beans or a sandwich on whole grain for lunch. fruits and veggies ARE good for you - don’t let the carb thing fool ya! love the cold egg idea. drink loads of water, too. the heat makes me feel more connected to my body and to listening to what it really wants which isn’t very much. i’m not moving as much either, though, so it balances out :)

I am going through this too Holly! I have been eating nothing but fruit salad, salads and cold cut sandwiches. Oh yeah and a little sushi here and there :)

Thrive, yeah cold soup is good, have you ever tried putting protein powder in it, wonder if that would make it unappetizing?

I wish I had this problem! I never have a problem with eating too little. This hot weather does help me drink all that water though. Thanks for the tip! I’m willing to try anything at this point. I’m going to try to get down to one diet coke a day and then get rid of that one by the end of the month.

Sometimes ! most of the time I don’t have a problem eating and with as much junk that is brought to my office to eat, I am just struggling to say “No” to all the little treats in the office ! A blessing happened to me really yesterday when a rep brought us in Hot fudge sundaes , Oh I planned to eat it and took two bites and the office got really busy with patients and it started to melt and I wound up throwing it in the garbage ! Just keep up the good work and stay positive ! Hugs, Kimmi

I hear ya on the heat thing. It has been over 90 degrees ALL WEEK here in Boston. It’s so nasty out. I did grill up some chicken tonight and my wife made broccoli and rice so we did at least eat healthy tonight. Today’s lunch was a microwave weight watchers thing for me. Which I’ve heard mixed review on as far as health. I like it, and it fills me up enough. I did eat a lot of watermellon and grapes over the past 2 days though.

Grapes with FF Cool Whip is my salvation. I also loved grilled anything, and my husband loves to grill. I like Weight Watchers Smoothies too. You have to get them at a center though. They are not available at stores. They have lots of fiber and, when made with milk, two servings of dairy.
